The circular river
The cave and grotto system inside Rulantica was created by the circular Utanända river. Over the course of the centuries, the water forged its path through the mountain range. In this way, the extensive caves and grottos were created, which today exist both above and below water.
Utanända is no ordinary river. There is no source which feeds into the river as is usually the case, and no mouth which marks the end of the river: Utanända has no beginning and no end!
According to legend, the trickster god Loki, when he created Rulantica, used the water for Utanända from one of the magic rivers of the Nordic worlds. According to the saga, anyone who floats on this river forgets time.
