The Tre Kronor

A king who wished for immortality

As the centuries passed, the legend of Rulantica and its magic source fascinated people. The Swedish King Gustav I could not resist temptation and in 1557 he sent his best ship, the Tre Kronor, to find the island. The ageing king wished to become immortal using the water from the source. But the ship never came back, and the king died a short time later at Tre Kronor castle.
It appears that it was only once the Tre Kronor coat of arms was salvaged in 2015 that there was evidence that Tre Kronor was actually successful in finding Rulantica. But what happened to the crew? Why did they not manage to get back to Sweden?
