The Nordic father of the gods left behind Svalgur, a powerful sea monster, as a constant reminder for the sea people in the eternal ice. If the sea people neglected their duty to protect the source of eternal life, and if another person managed to drink its water, this snake would come to life and engulf the island of Rulantica.
